Student Talk: Discourses Beyond Elections in Occupied Jammu Kashmir

The stage has been set for the farce of elections in Occupied territory of Jammu Kashmir. Indian state, with its full military might & institutions, is falsely portraying elections as the last hope for prosperity and welfare. BUT….

Student Talk: Discourses Beyond Elections in Occupied Jammu & Kashmir

This is the text of pamphlets KUSU distributed among students in Kashmir University’s main & north campuses for a week before its 27-Nov-2014 event(student talk) titled “‘Discourses Beyond Elections in Occupied Jammu & Kashmir”— held in the lawns of the Allama Iqbal Library.

1. The pro-India puppet regimes & collaborators who work in tandem with India have jointly expanded the prison state – by building statecraft, bureaucracy, security grid – to perpetuate the military rule and thus act as emissaries of Indian Military Occupation.

2. Electoral politics acts as a movement killer, not movement builder (as some proxies believe) for our movement of Right to Self Determination, nourished by the blood of lakhs of martyrs since last 7 decades.

3. Elections in J&K are advertised as a staple of western democracy by Indian state. Elections are imposed on a hostile population who have other ideas of governance based on their rich religious-cum-political legacy.

4. Pro-India camp claims elections to be a tool of pulling Jammu Kashmir out of political and economic uncertainties. However, in this garb they only strengthen the military rule.

The people of Jammu Kashmir should boycott the sham elections & thus not provide consent for the military occupation every five years. And say NO to electoral processes held in situations of foreign occupation and alien domination.
